T. Boone Pickens has struck a chord with many Americans who agree with his assertion that America must cease or reduce its reliance on foreign oil. Check out Pickens Plan. He is erecting ten billion dollars worth of wind turbines in Texas. So what has that got to do with New Fluid Technology?

Considering the phenomenal growth of the Pickens Plan, Senate majority leader Harry Reid had cause to ask from Pickens an assurance that he had no intention of running for President, an assurance which Pickens gave.

Pickens has been smart enough to not just push the barrow of development of renewable energy sources but to advocate offshore drilling and natural gas exploitation as well.

NFT has a 100% commercial orientation. However we need to be aware of the issues re energy reduction. Our technologies are aimed at having a real impact on reducing electricity consumption and therefore the burn rate of fossil fuels.

That is why we get involved with scientists who understand those issues, many of whom are frustrated over inaction by decision makers. That is why we also met with Harry Reid and informed him of possibilities re wind turbine efficiency increases and other innovative energy reduction breakthroughs.

In the interest of our shareholders we have to understand the industries we target. Due to our experience, we have many insights as to why industries resist change that would benefit them and their country. Psychologists including industrial psychologists have identified a lot of reasons.

One is that times are tough. Another is the "not invented here syndrome". Another is that investment in present tooling and manufacturing must be allowed to return a profit which is usually over several years. Another is that often at engineering level or lower to middle management a new idea gets stopped from reaching decision makers at the top. Another is that in larger corporations departments do not communicate. Another is inertia. There are also occasionally genuine reasons.

So we joined Pickens Plan as another way we can publish, through blogs, discussions and forums, sane technical information to an environmentally concerned American population who may not be fully aware that much of corporate America and Europe often does not embrace energy saving technologies for some of the above reasons.

If you have a criticism you had better have a solution or be seeking one. We have a few individual technical solutions and want to make them known to people who are genuinely seeking. We give away important knowledge as a contribution that will not give us any financial return.

But we also must get a financial return for our shareholders. Pickens Plan is populated by many concerned people and some of them are, by profession, decision makers.

But many of them are not technical and can not make useful decisions without all the facts. Worthwhile facts are hard to come by in corporate America due to competition and the need for secrecy re various corporations’ technologies.

Also as we have already pointed out, some of the universities hold research results that could add big improvements to our ability to reduce energy consumption by raising efficiency in important industries. We point out those sources we have had experience with.

By participating in Pickens Plan, we increase our exposure. One motivation is that we are also concerned and we do have genuine technical contributions to make. Another one is that it is another way to increase the probability of achieving a fair and reasonable financial return to our shareholders who have invested millions of dollars in our technologies.

We met with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his senior energy adviser Chris Miller on April 14, 2008.

The agenda items were Jetfan and Orbital Pump but we soon expanded into related subjects especially wind power.

Briefly, Senator Reid and Chris Miller were informed that, apart from us there were people and institutions in the USA that had already developed solutions to a significant number of renewable energy problems.

One of New Fluids contributions would be the most energy efficient pump available for hundreds of applications that is also 4-6 times quieter than conventional.

In addition Senator Reid and Chris Miller were informed that Office of Naval Research (ONR), NASA and Georgia Tech Research Institute had scientists and mature technologies that applied to 3 times blade lift on wind turbines, 11% to 12% increase in fuel economy for flat backed trucks and SUV’s among other things.

One of the last things Senator Reid said during the meeting to Chris Miller was "Chris keep on this"

The team from New Fluid has developed another World first; a pump that sounds as quiet as a laptop computer while pumping 560 liters of water per minute!

The concept is entirely different than the operating principle of other pumps and has been 8 years in development. We cannot yet reveal how we do it, however we have just started demonstrating the efficiency and low noise to interested industry players with responses of amazement.

For the technical reader, the sound pressure levels are 52.8 dBA (at 1 meter). Sound pressure levels (SPL) halve or double each 3 dBA. 62 dBA is 4 times quieter than 68 dBA!

The average pool or spa pump is running at about 65-68 dBA with some as high as 70 dBA and delivering only 450-480 liters per minute.

The pump will be manufactured at a fraction of the cost of other pumps thus benefiting the consumer. It’s like comparing a Schaefer or Waterman pen to a Bic ball point.

While New Fluid is now talking with some of the worlds leading pump manufacturers in the US and Europe, it is felt that before long countries hungry for technology and manufacturing such as China will acquire this technology. Chinese manufacturers will be able to supply the West’s needs for this breakthrough pump at very low cost.
